Madison, Wis. - Senator Romaine Robert Quinn (R-Cameron) has issued a statement reflecting on his first year in office and discussing his plans for the year ahead. Senator Quinn expressed his pride in the accomplishments made in a short period of time, focusing on the work done on behalf of families in Northwestern Wisconsin.

One of the key achievements mentioned by Senator Quinn is the state budget that he voted for, which allocated funds to address community needs. The budget utilized the state's record surplus to provide funding for additional health care services, local roads in rural areas, and the largest investment in education in state history. Importantly, the budget also ensured that taxpayers could keep their hard-earned money.

Senator Quinn further highlighted the new shared revenue formula that will benefit rural communities by helping them keep up with the rising costs of providing essential services. He stated that every community in the 25th Senate District will see at least a 20% increase this year, bringing over $15 million to local counties and municipalities, all without raising taxes.

As the chair of the Senate committee overseeing housing issues, Senator Quinn worked on addressing Wisconsin's significant housing shortage. He discussed legislation signed into law last summer that aims to attract private investment to create more housing while ensuring investments are made throughout the state, including rural areas.

In addition to housing initiatives, Senator Quinn authored five other bills that were signed into law. These bills cover various areas, including allowing seniors on SeniorCare to purchase 100-day supplies of certain prescription drugs, pending federal approval. The measure aims to save seniors from making multiple trips to the pharmacy, which can be time-consuming, especially in rural areas.

Senator Quinn emphasized the importance of staying connected with constituents. He mentioned that his office has received over 3,000 contacts in the first year alone, providing assistance, answering questions, and listening to concerns. He also held numerous listening sessions throughout the district, alongside Rep. Dave Armstrong, Rep. Chanz Green, and Rep. Angie Sapik.

To ensure constituents stay informed, Senator Quinn mentioned his weekly e-update, which constituents can sign up for by contacting his office or visiting his website.

Looking ahead, Senator Quinn expressed his anticipation for Governor Evers' State of the State address in a few weeks. He hopes to hear the governor's priorities for the coming year. Senator Quinn expressed disappointment over the governor's veto of proposals, including a middle-class tax cut, expansion of the Child Care and Dependent tax credit, and reform of Wisconsin's occupational licensure and welfare programs.

Senator Quinn also mentioned several other issues that need to be addressed before the end of the legislative session. These issues include consumer data privacy protection, election reforms, and concerns about Wisconsin's deer herd population. He expressed hope for consensus on some of these major issues, especially as Wisconsin families face the costs of inflation.

In conclusion, Senator Quinn expressed his honor and dedication to serving as State Senator. He emphasized his commitment to meeting the expectations of the 25th Senate District.

Romaine Robert Quinn (R-Cameron) represents the 25th Senate District, which includes several counties in Northwestern Wisconsin.
