Washburn Elementary School had the highest enrollment among Bayfield County schools, welcoming 285 students during the 2024-25 academic year, according to a report from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2024-25 school year, 51.9% identified themselves as boys, and 48.1% as girls.

Data also showed that most of the students were white, accounting for 80.4% of the Washburn Elementary School's total enrollment.

Among the 12 schools in Bayfield County, Bayfield Elementary School ranked second in enrollment numbers with 189 students, while Washburn High School welcomed 182 students and ranked third in the 2024-25 school year.

Washburn Elementary School is a part of the Washburn School District, which roughly covers schools within Bayfield County with its main office in Washburn.

In the previous school year, Washburn Elementary School also had the highest number of students among Bayfield County schools.

In 2022, the teacher-to-student ratio was approximately 1:14 in Wisconsin classrooms, compared to the national average of 1:16.
