Bayfield County issued the following announcement on January 26.
The Bayfield County Highway Department would like to remind county residents to take caution when traveling on the wintery roads. While the department works to deploy salt and sand to assist with traction, both solutions become less effective the lower the temperature gets.
Please exercise caution and allow for appropriate travel times between destinations and avoid traveling in inclement weather. Seeing the highway crews out on the road is not a sign that the roads are completely safe, accidents are still possible.
