FOIA Request to Town of West Sweden Regarding New Voter Registrations on November 7, 2024.
In our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Northwoods Reporter have submitted a request under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., for a list of new voters who registered to vote on November 5, 2024.
As media professionals dedicated to gathering and reporting news to the public, access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
We believe that given our role in disseminating information, we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals. We eagerly await the response from the Town of West Sweden regarding this request and will continue our efforts in ensuring transparency and accountability in local government affairs.
