FOIA Request Sent to Town of Wilson Regarding Voter Registration Records on November 7, 2024

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Town of Wilson in Wisconsin regarding voter registration records on November 7, 2024. The request specifically asked for a list of new voters who registered on Election Day, November 5, 2024.

As representatives from Northwoods Reporter, a media organization dedicated to comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we are committed to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Access to these public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities.

In the request, we have expressed our eligibility for a fee waiver as media professionals due to our role in gathering and disseminating information. We await the response from the Town of Wilson and look forward to sharing this important information with our readership.

The Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., under which this request has been made, ensures that all state residents have access to public records created by government bodies.
