A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Village Of Solon Springs on November 7, 2024. The request, made by us at Northwoods Reporter, sought information regarding new voter registrations that occurred on November 5, 2024.
As a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we believe access to such public records is essential for fulfilling our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
The request was made under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., and we expressed a preference for receiving the data in an electronic format. As members of the media involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we also requested a fee waiver for this information due to our role in disseminating it.
We continue to wait for a response from the Village Of Solon Springs regarding this request. As always, our goal is to ensure transparency and accountability within our local government institutions through diligent reporting.
