A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Town of Grant in Wisconsin regarding new voter registrations on November 7, 2024.
The request, made by Northwoods Reporter, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, sought a list of new voters who registered to vote on November 5, 2024. The request was made under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., with a preference for the information to be provided in an electronic format.
As part of our commitment at Northwoods Reporter to hold public institutions accountable and provide transparency to the public, we believe access to such public records is essential. Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we have also requested a fee waiver as a media professional.
We await a response from the Town of Grant and will continue our efforts to provide accurate and timely information about local government affairs.
