A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Town of Drummond in Wisconsin regarding voter registration records on November 7, 2024. The request, made by us at Northwoods Reporter, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, specifically sought a list of new voters who registered to vote on November 5, 2024.
As part of our commitment to transparency and accountability in public institutions, we requested these records under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., preferably in electronic format.
Access to public records is crucial for us at Northwoods Reporter as it allows us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. We believe that as a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we are eligible for a fee waiver.
We continue to work diligently towards providing accurate and timely information to our readership and will update the public once we receive a response from the Town of Drummond regarding this request.
