There were 217 students enrolled in Birchwood School District in the 2024-25 school year, 4% less than the previous year, according to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2024-25 school year, 52.1% identified themselves as girls, 47.9% as boys.

Data also shows that most of the students were white, accounting for 94% of the Birchwood School District total enrollment.

Birchwood School District covers five schools within Washburn County, with its main office in Birchwood.

Among the five schools in the district, Birchwood Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 86 students in the 2024-25 school year.

Wisconsin ranks 22nd in the U.S. for public education spending, with an annual expenditure of over $16,500 per pupil, totaling $13.8 billion per year.
