Butternut School District welcomed 176 students in 2024-25 school year

There were 176 students enrolled in Butternut School District in the 2024-25 school year, 6.4% less than the previous year, according to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2024-25 school year, 52.3% identified themselves as girls, 47.7% as boys.

Data also shows that most of the students were white, accounting for 93.8% of the Butternut School District total enrollment.

Butternut School District covers two schools within Ashland County, with its main office in Butternut.

Among the two schools in the district, Butternut High School recorded the highest enrollment of 92 students in the 2024-25 school year.

Wisconsin had a student-to-teacher ratio of 14-to-1 in 2025, lower than the national average of 16-to-1, according to Public School Review.
