CITY OF ASHLAND: Notice to August 11 Absentee Voters

Notice

City of Ashland issued the following announcement on July 7

IF YOU REQUESTED AN ABSENTEE BALLOT FOR THE AUGUST 11TH ELECTION BEFORE 7/1/20, THE FIRST BALLOT YOU RECEIVED HAD AN ERROR WHEREIN A CONTEST WAS LISTED THREE TIMES RATHER THAN ONCE.

THERE IS NO BALLOT CANDIDATE FOR THIS CONTEST, BUT THE OPPORTUNITY TO WRITE IN A NAME WAS OFFERED THREE TIMES.  A CORRECTED (SECOND) BALLOT WITH A GREEN MARKING ON THE RETURN ENVELOPE WILL BE SENT TO YOU.  PLEASE VOTE AND RETURN THIS BALLOT, EVEN IF YOU VOTED AND RETURNED THE FIRST BALLOT.

When absentee ballots are processed on Election Day, whichever ballot has been returned will be counted.  If both ballots have been returned, the corrected (second) ballot will be count, and the first ballot will be rejected.  If only the first ballot is returned, and more than one name has been written in for the contest in question, no vote will count for that contest.

You will only receive two ballots if you applied for an absentee ballot before 7/1/20.  If you requested a ballot after 7/1/20, you will be receiving only one ballot.

To request an absentee ballot, go to MyVote Wisconsin at https://myvote.wi.gov/en-us/ . For more information, visit https://www.coawi.org/252/Election-Information .

If you have questions, please contact the City Clerk’s Office at 715-682-7071.
