The Washburn Area Chamber of Commerce along with Washburn EMS invite you to the Washburn AED Project Celebration on Oct. 7th at 2pm at the ambulance hall in Washburn.
We have been working together for months to secure funding to get businesses AED units, along with the necessary training for owners and their employees so that they could use them at their business location.
Response time by all emergency service providers has increased recently due to many different reasons. This project does not solve that issue, but it does provide people with the training and equipment they need to assist in an emergency until help arrives giving the person experiencing a health emergency a much higher chance of survival or recovery.
With funding from different grants, including one from the Washburn Community Education Foundation, 3 training sessions have taken place and
the first 4 units have been delivered. During the celebration we will be presenting them to the following businesses: Hanson's IGA, North Coast Coffee, 211 Martini and Lake Superior View Golf.
More business have shown an interest and we will continue to work at acquiring more units for those who have already been trained or who will be trained this fall/winter. If you are interested in making a contribution to help us order more AED units please contact the Chamber at 715-373-5017.
