Ghana trip a life-changing experience
Twenty-six UW-Superior students, faculty, staff and community members take part in Music in Ghana
International travel has a way of putting our lives into perspective. Interacting with different cultures and trying new things – perhaps out of our comfort zones – can help us learn and grow. That is certainly the case for a group of University of Wisconsin-Superior students, staff and faculty who recently returned from a trip to Ghana.
Anya Russom, international programs manager for UW-Superior’s Office of Intercultural Student Success, shared the purpose of the trip. “This trip was called Music in Ghana. It was a celebration of music and how it allows us to connect. The program was organized by the Music Department, and included students from choir, orchestra and percussion as well as several alumni and community members.”
The trip took place during the university’s winter break, with 16 students participating; all of whom are involved in the Music Department to varying degrees. Aside from the 16 students, there were five UW-Superior staff/faculty and five community members who also took the trip, for a total of 26 travelers.
