The Iron County Republican Party has announced its upcoming nominating convention, scheduled for Thursday, April 11th. The event will take place at Canyon View High School in Cedar City, Utah. Delegates are instructed to enter through the southeast entrance of the building.
Credentialing is set to begin at 5 p.m. and conclude by 5:45 p.m., with the meeting starting promptly at 6 p.m. Only County Delegates are eligible to vote, and they must present a valid photo ID for credentialing purposes. While attendance is open to all, voting rights are restricted to these delegates.
The convention's primary objective is for County Delegates to elect party nominees for partisan county positions. Notably, this year features an unopposed race for County Commissioner seat "C."
A meet-and-greet session with candidates will precede the meeting from 5 p.m. to 5:50 p.m., offering delegates a chance to engage directly with candidates from both State and Federal elections. Attendees are encouraged to participate in this opportunity to discuss important issues.
For any inquiries regarding the convention, delegates can contact any of the party's Executive Officers through information available on ironcountygop.org.
The agenda includes a call to order by Mari Eddy, County Party Chair; prayer and pledge of allegiance by invitation; credentials report by Hillary Carter, County Party Vice-Chair; financial report by Casey Anderson, County Party Treasurer; approval of previous meeting minutes presented by Richard Genck, County Party Secretary; voting by acclamation for unopposed candidates; candidate speeches and elections; representative reports during ballot counting; announcement of results; and adjournment.
The Iron County Republican Party has endorsed Phil Lyman for governor following his victory at the Utah Republican State Convention with significant support.
Governor Spencer Cox recently remarked that delegates who do not support him may harbor excessive negativity toward others within their ranks.
