Matthew Rust, Chairman of St. Croix County Republicans, said that President Trump's precision strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities marked a long-overdue response to a growing threat, demonstrating peace through strength. Rust made his statement to Northwoods Reporter.

"Iran's nuclear program had become one of the most pressing global security threats, and years of international agreements failed to stop its advance," said Rust. "President Trump took the unprecedented step of using military force to confront the danger directly, choosing clarity over delay. The strikes, carried out with surgical precision, demolished Iran's primary enrichment sites and avoided any collateral damage. This action underscored the idea that American strength, when used deliberately and intelligently, can restore stability and prevent future war."

According to Fox News, the Trump administration executed successful strikes on Iran’s three key nuclear sites—Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. Announced by President Trump on Truth Social and in a national address on June 21, the mission crippled Iran’s nuclear program and resulted in a U.S.-brokered ceasefire between Iran and Israel. The operation followed Trump’s overhaul of the National Security Council, appointing Secretary of State Marco Rubio to multiple key roles.

In a June 23 post to Truth Social, President Trump said: "Israel & Iran came to me, almost simultaneously, and said, ‘PEACE!’ I knew the time was NOW. The World, and the Middle East, are the real WINNERS! Both Nations will see tremendous LOVE, PEACE, AND PROSPERITY in their futures. They have so much to gain, and yet, so much to lose if they stray from the road of RIGHTEOUSNESS & TRUTH. The future for Israel & Iran is UNLIMITED, & filled with great PROMISE."

Rust is the Chairman of the Republican Party of St. Croix County and was first elected to the role in 2023. According to the organization's website, he is "focused on boosting Republican voter turnout, growing the Party’s membership, and communicating the Party’s positions on issues that matter to St. Croix County voters."
