Licensing of dogs required annually

Licensing of dogs is required annually within the City of Chetek. Pursuant to Wisconsin Statute 174.05 – Except as provided in s. 174.054, the owner of a dog more than 5 months of age on January 1 of any year, or 5 months of age within the license year, shall annually, or on or before the date the dog becomes 5 months of age, pay the dog tax and obtain a license.

You may obtain your dog license at city hall – a copy of the dogs rabies certificate from the veterinarian is required to obtain the license. The fee is $6.00 for spayed/neutered. $12.00 for non-fixed dogs. Stop in at city hall or mail your information and fee to: City of Chetek, PO Box 194, Chetek, WI. We will back to you the license and copies of your rabies certificate. ⚠️Failure to license your dog may result in a fine of not less than $25.00 nor more than $100 as provided under 174.042(4)
