Over recent years, Iron County has experienced several issues related to mail-in voting. In the general elections of 2021 and 2022, delays in ballot mailing due to third-party vendors resulted in many ballots not reaching voters' homes. This situation potentially left numerous residents disenfranchised. During the June 2024 Primary Election, more than 400 ballots from Iron County were uncounted because of postmark problems, despite voters reporting timely mailing.
The Iron County Republican Party Executive Committee emphasizes that these incidents demonstrate vulnerabilities in relying on mail-in voting as a primary method. Concerns include delayed postmarking and ballots being processed out of state, which create uncertainties about vote counting.
To address these concerns, the committee encourages voters to participate in person during upcoming elections. "In-person voting with a government-issued photo ID eliminates the risks associated with mail delays and processing errors," states the committee. They believe this approach ensures ballots are securely counted on Election Day.
The committee advises those opting for mail-in voting to ensure early submission of their ballots. Voters can use drop boxes or send their ballots well ahead of deadlines to avoid them being uncounted.
"Thank you for your participation in our election process," says the executive committee, highlighting the importance of active voter involvement for maintaining democratic integrity.
Polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., offering ample opportunity for residents to cast their votes.
