The majority of students in Washburn County districts were white in the 2024-25 school year, according to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.

Of the 2,097 students attending Washburn County district schools, 90.5% were white. Multiracial students were the second largest ethnic group within Washburn County's districts, making up 4.3% of the student body.

In the previous school year, white students were also the most common group in Washburn County districts, representing 89.5% of the student body.

Spooner Area School District had the most diverse student body in the county, which included American Indian, Asian, African American, Hispanic, Pacific Islander, multiracial, and white.

In the 2024-25 school year, the total number of students enrolled in school districts in the county dropped to 3.4% compared to the previous year.

Wisconsin's lawmakers have approved over $5.5 billion in funding for schools for the 2024-25 school year, a 4.2% increase from the previous year.
